On the first few days of 2010, 450,000+ visitors visited the Washinomiya Shrine, Tokyo's oldest shrine and a backdrop to the series Lucky Star. Tons of Otaku have visited the Shrine since 2007 where anime characters Kagami and Tsukasa Hiiragi who work at the shrine as shrine maidens (Miko in Japanese).

Total visitor attendants has grown exponentially since 2007, going from 90,000 in '07, 300,000 in '08, 420,000 in '09 to 450,000 this year. Also, 2700 fans of the series bought Satte City's official certificate of registration for the family of Lucky Star's Komata Izumi. Kagami Yoshimizu, the creator of Lucky Star and native of Satte City, drew the illustration that's on the certificate of registration for the fictional Izumi family.

Yoshimizu made an appearance to the registration ceremony on Sunday, along with his mother, and accepted the original certificate of registration from Mayor Hideo Machida. Some first 53 fans were fortunate to have their certificate signed by Yoshimizu.

Yoshimizu lived in Satte until 2008, and the Chamber of Commerce renovated his former home after he moved out. It reopened in March which features a gallery and as a fictional home of the Izumi family.

Two Japanese TV station companies, Animax Broadcast Japan and Imagica TV, will collaborate in a public-relations campaign in February. Animax Broadcast Japan runs the Animax channel, while Imagica TV runs the cooking channel, Foodies TV. Among other activities, the two companies will host classes and contests for creating bentō (Japanese boxed meals) in the form of anime characters. By televising and streaming videos of this campaign, Imagica TV hopes to raise awareness of Animax's channel among its viewers, as well as the other way around.

According to Nikkei, such cooperation between the two is rare in Japan. Animax and Imagica will begin the campaign by launching bentō classes and contests for Sailor Moon, a popular anime with both children and mothers in their 20s and 30s.

An anonymous user sent us an e-mail stating some rumors going around about the sequel to Dragonball Evolution will begin filming sometime in 2010. There is no actual reliable source for this information just yet, so only take it has a rumor. It was said further information will be available either by the end of this year or sometime in Januray. We will shed some light on this if we get any confirmation from FOX or anyone else that is reliable. Don’t get your hopes up just yet. And if I must say, if they do film a sequel I really hope they treat it much better than what was done with DB Evolution.

If anyone knows anything else about this, please share your information in the comments. But for now, it is all just speculation.
